One of Peter’s final living statements, Chicken Shit Bingo, proves another varied probing, meditative at times, powerful series of songs with Paal, this time recorded in a studio. I can’t quite say why, maybe because Peter is gone now, but I just keep listening to this LP over and over and over. An example of all that is good in live modern jazz improvisation - I particularly like the involvement of the baby and the musicians in the open textures at the beginning of Masquerade Charade - very lovely, very immediate, very real.
